Sodi-Tech Completes Four-Machine Sodick AL60G+ Installation
Sodi-Tech has successfully completed the installation and calibration of four new Sodick AL60G+ die-sink EDM machines at a customer’s manufacturing facility.
The substantial investment provides the customer with increased EDM capacity, enhanced automation and a highly accurate platform for producing complex tooling and precision components.
Each of the four machines has been equipped with an optional 32-position automatic tool changer. This significantly increases the number of electrodes available during a machining cycle, helping the customer reduce manual intervention and operate for longer periods without interruption.
Advanced Die-Sink EDM Technology
The Sodick AL60G+ is a high-speed, high-precision die-sink EDM machine designed for demanding mould, toolmaking and precision component applications.
The machine incorporates Sodick’s linear-motor drive technology alongside its latest electrical-discharge developments, providing the control, responsiveness and stability required for accurate machining and consistent surface finishes.
With axis travels of 600 mm in X, 420 mm in Y and 370 mm in Z, the AL60G+ offers the working capacity required for a wide variety of components. It can accommodate workpieces weighing up to 1,500 kg and electrodes weighing up to 50 kg, making it suitable for both precision machining and larger, more demanding applications.
Bespoke Engineering for the Customer’s Tooling
This installation involved much more than simply positioning and commissioning four standard machines.
The Sodi-Tech engineering team designed and manufactured bespoke fingers for the automatic tool changers, ensuring they were fully compatible with the customer’s existing tooling system.
By engineering the tooling interface around the customer’s application, the machines can be integrated more effectively into the existing production process. This helps reduce setup requirements, improve reliability and allow the customer to maximise the benefits of automated EDM machining.
